Cloud storage

Cloud storage is internet based storage where you can store any type of file and access them through the internet for download etc. no matter where you are.

USB Pen

A USB Pen is a form of portable storage that can be easily carried around and most modern ones are plug and play.

Hard Drive

Hard Drives are a form of permanent storage commonly used in computers as the main form of storage. They usually contain the OS, installed software, files etc.

RAM

RAM is a form of memory that is not used for permanent storage as the data will only remain while there is power going to RAM. It is used for the OS’s commonly accessed files, software that is open etc.

SSD

SSD’s are another form of permanent storage that is faster (but more expensive per GB) that the standard mechanical drives.

Flash Drive

Flash drives are permanent storage devices that are commonly used in phones, digital cameras etc. because of their small size and non-mechanical design.

CD/DVD

CD/DVD’s can store data that can be moved around easily and can also be rewritten if the drive and disk have the capability to do so. They are rarely used for backup because of they are prone to scratches etc. which can corrupt data.
